Finding Strength in Support: How the CFCE Mental Health Program Transformed My High School Experience

Juggling School, Sports, and Sanity: My High School Struggle

Hey there! I’m Kayla Wright, a junior at Willingborough High School. If you’ve ever wondered how to juggle school, sports, and a million extracurriculars while keeping your sanity intact, trust me, I’ve been there. But let me tell you, there’s one thing that’s made all the difference for me: the CFCE Mental Health Program at our school.

You see, high school isn’t just about grades, sports, or who’s dating who. It’s about figuring out who you are and what you want out of life. And let’s be real, that can be overwhelming. Between being the president of the student council, running track, playing flag football and soccer, and being involved in nearly every club you can think of, I’ve faced my fair share of stress. But the real challenges aren’t always the ones you see on the surface.

Under Pressure: The Mental Health Toll

For a lot of us, high school feels like a pressure cooker. The drama, the expectations, the constant comparisons—they can take a toll on your mental health. And while we might brush off things like gossip or minor conflicts as no big deal, they often pile up and start to feel like the weight of the world. That’s where the CFCE Mental Health Program comes in.

The CFCE Mental Health Program: A Game-Changer

This program isn’t just another resource—it’s a lifeline. It’s where you can go when the stress of school and life feels like too much. It’s where you can talk to someone who genuinely gets it, someone who knows how to help you navigate the tough stuff. And trust me, having that kind of support can change everything.

My Journey to Finding Strength Through CFCE

I remember a time when things at home were really rough. I was trying to keep it together at school, but inside, I was struggling. That’s when I turned to the CFCE Mental Health Program. I had one-on-one sessions with a counselor who listened without judgment, gave me advice that actually made sense, and helped me see things more clearly. It wasn’t just about venting—it was about finding real solutions and gaining the strength to keep moving forward.

But it’s not just me who’s benefited from this program. So many students at our school have found a safe space here, a place where they can be themselves without fear of being judged or misunderstood. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, or just the everyday stress of being a teenager, the CFCE program offers a level of support that you can’t find anywhere else.

Why We Can’t Afford to Lose CFCE

I can’t imagine what our school would be like without it. Sure, there’s talk about replacing programs like ours with something called “hubs and spokes,” where you’d have to call a number and wait for a counselor to come to you. But let’s be real—when you’re in the middle of a crisis, you don’t have time to wait for help to arrive. You need someone right then and there, someone who knows you and understands what you’re going through. That’s what the CFCE program offers—immediate, personalized support that makes a real difference.

The Power of Mental Health Support in Schools

If this program were taken away, it would be catastrophic. Our school would lose one of its greatest assets—its ability to provide a safe, supportive environment for every student. And in a world where teen suicide and depression rates are rising, that kind of support is more important than ever.

So, here’s my message to anyone who’s struggling: You’re not alone. The CFCE Mental Health Program is here for you, just like it’s been there for me. Don’t be afraid to reach out, whether it’s to a counselor, a teacher, or even a friend. We all need help sometimes, and there’s no shame in asking for it.

High school is tough, but with the right support, we can get through it together. And with programs like CFCE, we can do more than just survive—we can thrive.
